It's Personal

It's Personal

Hi!

It's been a minute since I wrote or posted or reached out with much, so I thought I'd take this beautiful fall day to catch you up.  I'm writing on Friday, but it might reach your inbox on Sunday because "technology"...

It's a great morning on my deck with humming birds on the feeder, squirrels in the oaks and black walnut tree, and cats watching on hopefully.  I can see a bit of myself in all these creatures - busily taking in empty calories to put to good use in my flittings about, collecting the most nutritious bits of the season and storing it away for leaner times, hunting for the best options.  And though it's probably the wrong time to do it, I'm rooting some shoots that I plucked off a spirited sweet potato I found in the back of the bin.  There's plenty of metaphor there, too, but I'll let your own imagination run with it.

Over the last few years, I've written to you with vulnerability and empathy about my relationship with chronic pain, depression, and anxiety.  But with a metric shittonne of very hard work with highly skilled professionals of various sorts, leanings on shoulders of friends, and the input of a wee bit of modern chemistry and ye olde herbology, I'm super happy to say that I've reached a respite!  The clouds have lifted - at least for now - and I'm coming out!  (sing it...).

AND as I listen and sing along, my tummy starts to flutter and my brain starts to twist into "is this scary?"  Well, it's fun.  This is what fun feels like.  And just like there are so many butterflies in the garden - there are so many butterflies in my guts.  And the more it happens, the safer it feels.

News worth mentioning:

  • Kid #1 has launched - Kieran moved out with a roommate and is gainfully employed in the food service industry while finishing up his degree program at Nashville State.
  • Kid #2 just turned 17 - Levon is also gainfully employed in the food industry, is a junior in high school, and is making killa beats in FL studios (exciting news coming soon!!)
  • Husband - Oliver turned 60, TWBs put out a record this year called Puff of Smoke, and we are getting along famously with little peeps into what empty nesting might be like.  It's a good thing we like looking at each other - easy on the eyes.
  • Work - Hearts in the Mix moved into a commercial kitchen space and passed the health inspection with flying colors!  In addition to regularly feeding musicians in studios, our family meal subscription service is growing and we have added options for delivery (in)frequency.  The hardest part is learning how to make the service on MY end do what I want it to do to meet the needs of my seemingly niche business model.  Turns out I don't function the way other people function or do what other businesses do.  That's the good AND the bad news.  LOL

My business is my Self is my brand.  It's all personal.

Thank you for your generous support of me, my family, and Studio Mama + Hearts in the Mix.  I hope to see you out there more.  Which means you might be seeing me in here more.  In the interim...

Be Sweet!
